Leader Update
In the past, the world was fragmented and seemed large. We studied about foreign lands and listened to adventurous stories told by the few who took the message of Jesus to exotic locations. But the world has changed and the day of staying and listening to someone else’s stories is largely past. Today we go and we live the adventure of our own stories. That’s the focus of this month’s Insider. Frank Dang is interviewed regarding traveling to Afghanistan, Egypt, Cambodia and Vietnam, Victor Upton takes us to Africa, Karen Hatley leads us to Dubai, and Stan Parks addresses the value of such trips.
We are a part of over 4.4 billion people who passed through the world’s airports in 2006. But where are we going and why are we going there? Some travel for vacation, business, or personal reasons. The fact is, the world’s transportation systems now make it possible for us to quickly go almost anywhere we choose for just a few days or weeks. Most US churches have taken mission trips somewhere. Every trip is life enriching. Some are life changing. Some are transforming.
