Latin Americans woke up to the missionary call at the end of the 1970’s, and their contribution has been expanding ever since. Back then, the growth of the church in the Southern Hemisphere was not yet a main issue and it was unnoticed by most but for a few voices. Much more unnoticed then – and for some this is still the case – the growing missions participation of those churches.

The Changing of the Guard

In March of this year I stood outside Buckingham Palace in London, England watching the famed “changing of the guard.” The formal ceremony takes place roughly every other day as a new guard of approximately forty soldiers comes in to replace the old guard who’ve been standing watch over the monarch.

After Christ was baptized by John in Luke’s account he wandered in the desert for 40 days and was tempted by Satan (Luke 4:1-13). Even in the desert, there are signs of life and hope. For me, my friends in Christ in the Iranian-Afghan Christian Fellowship have become such a desert flower.
