Cuba: East, West, and Beyond
A huge wood cut map of the world dons the front wall of the Chapel at the Baptist Theological Seminary in Havana, Cuba. Wooden lines string out from Cuba to the other continents of the world, symbols of a robust missionary awakening among the two Baptist seminaries and a host of Cuban Baptist churches, --- and this, in spite of fifty years under a repressive, socialist regime that imprisons Baptist leaders and erects barriers to evangelical and missionary outreach.
Local Churches Sending Missionaries
I asked my host how many parents and children she thought would show up to the Sunday afternoon gathering in Collique, one of the poorest sections of Lima, Peru, before the medical clinic, led by Operation San Andres (OSA), was to begin the next day. She said, “Maybe 20, but don’t be discouraged if only 10 or so show up”. After we sang a few songs, I spoke to over 170 people who had been eagerly awaiting us and who were not satisfied, because even with music our meeting lasted only 30 minutes! The leaders were amazed at the number of those that were interested in hearing the message of Christ.

Persecuted Church Organizations Form Historical Network
(AMSTERDAM, 14 March 2007) In a historic move, fifteen key organizations that work with the persecuted church around the world launched a global network in order to cooperate more intentionally together. Meeting last week in Amsterdam, Holland, the group formed the Religious Liberty Partnership (RLP), with charter organizations that include Christian Solidarity International, Open Doors International, Christian Solidarity Worldwide, Voice of the Martyrs (Canada), and the Religious Liberty Commission of World Evangelical Alliance.
