WorldconneX and the PEACE Plan
I stood to my feet at the BGCT Annual meeting in Amarillo along with hundreds others at the conclusion of Rick Warren’s presentation and explanation of the PEACE plan. The elements of the PEACE plan are on target and in sync with the vision and values of WorldconneX:
1. Promoting Reconciliation
2. Equipping Servant Leaders
3. Assisting the Poor
4. Caring for the Sick
5. Educating the next generation
These issues are at the heart of God’s work among our churches in the twenty-first century and God is raising up churches and individuals for His purposes to the ends of the earth.
After the session I was stopped in the hallway by one of our pastors who challenged me. He said, “WorldconneX needs to have a ‘how to list” to help churches become “WorldconneX PEACE” churches. We need a ‘how to list’ to become strategic.”
I am not sure we are able to use the label, “WorldconneX PEACE” churches, but we are able to give churches practical steps whereby they can become strategic and implement the PEACE plan elements to the ends of the earth. The next morning, in our WorldconneX workshop, I listed several steps already in place with WorldconneX whereby churches can become strategic to the ends of the earth:
1. Host a WorldconneX “Inside Out Weekend”
2. Secure a WorldconneX missions coach
3. Participate in a Pastor PLUS trip
4. Join an Affinity Group
5. Send missions volunteers long-term through WorldconneX Front Line Services.
An Inside Out Weekend is a unique weekend event that helps a church identify its Kingdom uniqueness. Every church is special. Every church is different. By identifying the unique gifts, passions, professions and connections God has already given to a church, a church can better understand where they can join God in what He is doing in order to make a significant difference. We call this thinking from the inside out. A church begins to see missions and think about missions differently. Missions is no longer simply about “them,” it is about “us.” The Inside Out Weekend allows a church to do this in a Friday evening- Sunday morning event.
A WorldconneX coach can work with your church over the long term to guide you to Kingdom effectiveness. WorldconneX can link your church with a coach who works with the pastor and key leaders to explore and discover their unique role in missions.
A Pastor PLUS trip allows the senior pastor and at least one key lay leader to explore a nation or region where their church can make a significant difference based on the unique gifts and characteristics of the church members. The key originator for plans and strategies is the Holy Spirit speaking to key leaders as they explore possibilities.
An Affinity Group is composed of churches, organizations and individuals who work with the same people group, nation or region, professional domain (such as sports) or groups pioneering Internet Cafes in the two-thirds world.. It is a learning network where participants learn from what others are doing and network with one another for Kingdom effectiveness.
Front Line Services helps churches and individuals identify whatever resources they need in order to deploy their people long term anywhere in the world. The Church-sending Mission Fund, as a part of Front Line Services, allows supportive churches and individuals to partner with churches who are already sending out missionaries in order to provide financial support and personal engagement. The fund is “church-driven” and “donor directed.”
